"Anxiety in the heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad."    Proverbs 12:25

Whether your concern is anxiety, depression, dealing with your child's angry outbursts, chronic conflict in your marriage, or some other tough challenge in your life , I hope that reading my webpage can help you decide whether I can be of help.  My name is Mike Brissett.  I am a licensed psychologist and for many years I have worked with children and adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families.

When you or someone you care about is experiencing significant challenges in living, finding the right psychologist to help meet the challenges can make a real difference in achieving faster and better results.  My commitment to all my clients is to provide support, patience, encouragement, and honesty, along with proven strategies to help resolve distress, find constructive solutions to relationship and situational problems, and implement healthier and more effective ways of living.

I also love to share laughter with my clients, because it is good for both our physical and our mental health, most especially when we are struggling.  I think you will find my office to be a safe, pleasant, and helpful place.  If you decide to schedule an appointment with me, it will be a privilege to partner with you to address the changes you want and need to make.

I had the opportunity to go through
excellent training programs at Emory University, Purdue University, and the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine.  My training in Clinical Psychology included instruction in a number of therapeutic approaches for working with children, adolescents, and adults, and I had additional training in Developmental Psychology to provide greater understanding of the whole human life cycle.  In my practice I utilize a number of approaches but most often use cognitive, cognitive-behavioral, and relational therapies.
As a Christian, I integrate Christian values and truth into my practice.  While I am pleased to share about my faith, I respect the fact that not every individual who comes into my office will have the same faith, and I do not impose my beliefs on my clients.  However, like every other therapist, my beliefs and values certainly affect who I am as a counselor.

If you have questions you would like to ask me to help you decide if I would be a good fit for your counseling needs, I invite you to click here to contact me .
